Beyond the stories they narrate on the big screen, celebrities too have their own life stories wherein they deal with highs and lows, good and bad times, some hardships and many memories.

While life is the biggest teacher, there are people who share with us some valued life lessons that we apply and appreciate.

Today, on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, these celebrities tell us about their favourite teacher and that one learning that helps them shake off the negative emotions and move forward towards a bright future.

Lessons in laughter: Divya Dutta

Teacher: My biology teacher in school named Kusum Sharma.

Lesson: Once teachers were interviewing me for school captainship and I said something funny. She burst into laughter. There was a take home from that incident. I realised she believed in simply being herself, not trying to appear serious only because she was a teacher. She enjoyed every moment and that stayed with me.

Learning from mistakes

Aparshakti Khurana

Teacher: Savita Narang.

Lesson: I have three or four favourite teachers from school, one of them is my English teacher Savita Narang ma’am. I still remember what she once said—“Mistakes are lessons that we need to learn.”
Aparshakti Khurana

Life is a school itself

Manisha Koirala

Teacher: I would say I had the blessings of good teachers, my mother and lastly, cancer as my teacher! I learn a lot from writers. Life is a school itself.

Lesson: To do one’s best at any given time knowing our only job is to evolve as human beings and support life force.

An Advice for life: Manjot Singh

Teacher: Raj Kaushal. I’ve met him many times and we shared a beautiful relationship. I’ve learnt a lot from him; he was an amazing soul.

Lesson: He had once told me, when you leave this world, your kids and your family shouldn’t remember you for what you’ve left for them- property, money, etc. They should remember you for how you treated them. I got goosebumps when he said this but it stayed with me. Today when we think of him, it’s all the goodness and love he spread around that comes to mind, so I know what he meant.

Simple and basic rule

Abhinav Shukla

Teacher: My mother Radha Shukla, who has taught thousands of kids.

Lesson: She said something very basic— “When we hide something, we have to lie” The lesson has many applications in our lives, be it work, relationships, etc.
Abhinav Shukla

From father to son

Rohit Saraf

Teacher: My father Suresh Sharaf.

Lesson: The single most important and life- changing lesson I’ve ever learnt is that kindness and courage go the farthest in life. It’s a belief/ lesson that comes from my father.

Changed perspective: Akshay Oberoi

Teacher: Sanjay Mishra. We did a film together called Dard De. Unfortunately, the movie hasn’t been released but we became very good friends.

Do Follow us on :- Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube.

Lesson: While filming the movie he kind of took me under his wing. He is my favourite actor and he can just pull off any role. He told me that every project you do, be it a web series, a show or a movie, just keep doing it and don’t analyse things too much. Don’t think about strategies or whether this film will take you places or not. Just keep working and take more time to rehearse and improve your craft. Since then I’m constantly working with different directors and have accepted all kinds of roles. The way he put it across, I began to look at work differently.
