Fortis Mohali Felicitates Frontline Health Workers to Mark Nurses Week

Fortis Hospital Mohali felicitated the nursing staff today to mark the Nurses Week which took off at the hospital here today. The nursing staff of Fortis Hospital Mohali has been working tirelessly all through the pandemic.

The Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan was the Chief Guest on the Occasion. Ashish Bhatia, COO, Fortis Healthcare Ltd. and Abhijit Singh, Zonal Director, Fortis Hospital Mohali were also present on the occasion.

To recognise the contribution of nursing staff for being frontline workers during the Covid-19 pandemic, Fortis Mohali has planned a series of events from May 12 to 16 to commemorate International Nurses Week. The day also commemorates the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.

The Deputy Commissioner lit the lamp at the award ceremony. He lauded the contribution of nurses for their commitment to patient care, especially the past one year, which has been the most challenging time for healthcare workers. He said nurses have been at the forefront of the fight against COVID and he was proud of the nursing staff.

A meditation session was also organised on the occasion with a focus on adopting a ‘stress-free approach’. A fun quiz and debate was also held to mark the occasion. Captain Neelam Deshwal- Chief of Nursing, Fortis Hospital Mohali was also present on the occasion.

Stating that the pandemic failed to break their spirit, Capt. Neelam Deshwal, said, “Our nursing staff has put up a brave front. With PPE kits on, they can’t have food or water for about 6-8 hours. They’ve managed the intensive care unit at the cost of their own health.”

The theme of this year is ‘Nurses: A voice to lead – Vision for future healthcare.’ The aim is to showcase how nurses have proved to be the torchbearers of medical care. The annual event is a platform not only for the nursing staff to exhibit their talent, but also a gesture of appreciation for their constant efforts to facilitate patient care and support to the hospital.
