‘Get Vaccinated for your own and family’s Safety’: Citizens Body Chief Verma
Citizens Awareness Group Chairman, Surender Verma called on the city residents, appealing them to come forward for vaccination. Verma who got himself vaccinated today at PGIMER Chandigarh, said, the second wave of COVID 19 is even more infectious, which makes it important for us to follow all COVID protocols including wearing masks, maintaining distance and washing hands regularly.
Meanwhile, making an earnest appeal to the community not to ‘lower the guard’ and join the vaccination drive, Prof. Surinder S. Pandav, Chairman COVID-19 Vaccination Committee, PGIMER stated, “With the cases again surging again at a much faster pace, there is absolutely no room for complacency. COVID-19 is very much here and has not ‘gone away’ as was generally presumed and the threat of getting ‘infected’ is very much real. Hence, first priority for those above 45 should be to get the jab to protect oneself against the attack of COVID 19 virus. However, COVID Appropriate behaviour should be followed even after getting vaccinated as it takes time to develop antibodies against the virus.”

PGI Chandigarh has administered a total of around 12,000 vaccinations till date, of which 8500 are those who have got their first shot. “I was reluctant to get the vaccine but with the motivation and inspiration of the PGI authorities I got it done and there were no side effects. The arrangement was excellent under the supervision of a highly efficient team of doctors there”, added Verma.
