It is the unified and shared responsibility of India Auto players to realise e-Mobility in the country, said the stalwarts of the EV Industry at the CII Next Gen e-Mobility Summit 2020 held virtually today.
In his address, Mr Sunjay Kapur, Chairman, CII Haryana State Council & Chairman, Sona COMSTAR highlighted the potential EVs have to disrupt the mobility ecosystem and redefine contours of urbanization. He further added that India needs a structured road map, with timelines, processes, well-researched impact studies, bold initiatives and robust investments in technological research to turn its EV dream into reality.
While sharing his perspective, Mr Nishant Arya, Past Chairman, CII Haryana State Council & Executive Director, JBM Group opined that EV is the new fuel of mobility and thus we must create an affordable and competitive EV ecosystem in India.
Mr Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India Pvt Ltd highlighted the 4-pronged step to move the e-mobility ladder that include ‘Watching’ the technological advancements, accelerating ‘Adoption’ of technologies, structuring ‘Learning’ to emerge as the ‘Leader’ in EV market.
In his address, Mr Sailesh Chandra, President, TATA Motors Ltd stressed on the challenges of capital intensity, capability gaps and component availability for OEMs and provided a roadmap to overcome these challenges.
Mr Naveen Munjal, Managing Director, Hero Electric shared their commitment to convert India from a low speed to a fast speed electric two-wheeler market for addressing the range anxiety of end-users.
Mr B Srinivas, Sr Vice President – Strategy & Product Planning, VE Commercial Vehicle remarked that Industry-Academia connect is paramount in designing e-Mobility solutions.

The summit was attended by over 250 participants from the Auto sector and senior representatives from the Indian Automotive and Electric Vehicle industry addressed the delegates including officials from Volvo Cars India, BASF India Ltd, Greaves Cotton Ltd, Infineon Technologies, Bridgestone India Pvt Ltd, WABCO India Ltd, Greenfuel Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd., The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI), SmartE, Hella India Lighting Ltd, IKEA India, and Hitachi ABB Power Grids India amongst others.
