Since its inception, Hindi cinema has given us dialogues that not only give us goosebumps, but also remain etched in our hearts forever. When Shah Rukh Khan delivered this iconic dialogue in the year 1993, the theatres buzzed with whistles welcoming the next superstar of Bollywood. Marking his first outing as a grey character, Baazigar is one of the most loved films done by the actor till date. This Sunday, 9th July, Zee Classic, with its brand proposition of ‘Woh Zamaana Kare Deewana’, presents this nail-biting tale of love, betrayal and revenge showcased in Baazigar at 12 Noon.
Directed by the duo known for their thriller dramas, Abbas-Mustan, the film was a whopping success at the box-office and brought some of the biggest names in the industry to the limelight. With a storyline that explored different shades of human character, the film shaped the careers of Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Shilpa Shetty. Baazigar is not only remembered for its gripping storyline and excellent performances, but also for the chartbuster hits composed by Anu Malik.
The story revolves around Ajay (Shah Rukh Khan) who is on a journey to avenge his father and sister’s death. He promises his ailing mother (Rakhee) to take revenge from Madan Chopra (Dalip Tahil). Ajay disguises himself as Vicky Malhotra and approaches Chopra’s elder daughter Seema (Shilpa Shetty), who eventually falls in love with him. Tricking her into the promise of getting married, he murders her to get closer to the Chopra family. While he continues to play his game, Seema’s sister Priya (Kajol) is suspicious. She takes help of her college friend and police inspector Karan and starts investigating the matter secretly. What follows is a series of shocking revelations.
