Dr. Omprakash Gulati from Harvard Medical School, USA, delivered lecture at NIPER

Dr Om Prakash Gulati, Kansas State University (KSU), Manhattan, Kansas, USA and Visiting Professor at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Harvard University, USA delivered a lecture on “Structural Basis for function of Noro-Virus Protease and Staphylococcal Peroxidase Inhibitor” at NIPER, S.A.S. Nagar.

The lecture was dedicated in the memory of Late Dr. Jujhar Singh, a close colleague from Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow.

Dr. Om Prakash is also Adjunct Professor of Chemistry and Chair of the Biochemistry Graduate program admissions of KSU. At DANA-FARBER Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, he worked on understanding the structural aspects of protein function. In 1977, he obtained his Ph. D. in medicinal chemistry from the Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow.

He joined Kansas State University in 1993 and has taught NMR and structure-biology related courses for over 20 years. Research in his laboratory has been focusing on the structure, function and molecular recognition using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and NMR structure-based drug designing.

Prof S. S. Bari, Ex-Registrar, Punjab University, Chandigarh and Dr Sunil Bansal, Assistant Professor, Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar also attended the lecture besides other dignitaries, faculty and students from the Institute.
