‘Kala Utsav’ the first event of the State Level Kala Utsav-2018 kicked start with Solo Dance Competition at Bhawan Vidyalaya, Sector-27, here on Thursday. Smt. Bhawana Garg, I.A.S, Deputy Director General U.I.D.A.I. (Unique Identification Authority of India), was the chief guest of the event.
Fourteen government, government-aided and private schools participated with full enthusiasm and vigour. The Judges for the event were Guru Yogesh Sharma, Kathak Artist, Jaipur Gharana, Smt. Rachna, Kathak Artist and Preetpal Singh Sodhi, Professional Folk Artist. The Judges critically evaluated each and every performance as per the guidelines specified by MHRD/NCERT and gave their decision.
The aim of the event was to help the students to explore, understand and display their artistic talents which further gives them an opportunity to understand and celebrate cultural diversity at school, district, state and national level.
On the basis of performance, Vimal of Govt. Model High School, Maloya, secured first position; Vinod of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School-Mauli Jagran walked away with second position while Karampreet Singh of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School Sector-35 Dsecured the third position in Male Category.
In female category Shubhra Koser of Delhi Public School, Sector-40, Chandigarh secured first position; Arshita Kalia of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector-16, Chandigarh secured second position; Bibhasha Banerjee of Banyan Tree secured third position under Solo Dance Performance.
The official of the education department said that this time around 201 students participated in the event compared to 48 in 2015.
