Haryana Governor and Chancellor of J.C. Bose (erstwhile YMCA) University of Science and Technology, Faridabad, Mr Satyadeo Narain Arya, on the recommendation of Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal, has extended the term of appointment of Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the University with effect from November 4, 2018 for a period of three years. The notification to this effect has also been issued.
Prof. Dinesh Kumar, who is recipient of prestigious Homi Bhabha Memorial Award by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi for contribution to the development of science and technology in the country, has been granted this extension on the basis of the achievements made by the University during his tenure.
Expressing his gratitude to Governor of Haryana, Mr Satyadeo Narain Arya, Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal and Technical Education Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma, over the extension of the term of appointment, Prof. Dinesh Kumar said that he would continue his concerted effort to take this University on new heights and would work for the betterment of the University. “YMCA University, with a glorious legacy of 49 years, is a great institution. We all (stakeholders) have to work collectively for further upgradation of the University”, he added.
An able administrator and ardent researcher, who has obtained his Master and Ph.D degree from Cambridge University, Prof. Dinesh Kumar took over the charge as the fifth Vice-Chancellor of the University on November 4, 2015. Prior to join YMCA University, Prof. Dinesh Kumar has been serving as Professor in Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.
The tenure of Prof. Dinesh Kumar (54) as Vice Chancellor of YMCA University has been remarkable and the University has made notable achievements in his tenure. On the Academic front, the University has received ‘A’ Grade accreditation by NAAC along with NBA accreditation of its various courses. The University has also made its presence in NIRF ranking at National level. The University has also got affiliating status and 18 Engineering Colleges in district Palwal and Faridabad are affiliated with the University.
Due to his untiring efforts, the University has succeeded in getting grants about Rs. 27 crore from Central Agencies under TEQIP-3 and RUSA which has boosted the academic and infrastructural development. New laboratories, Classrooms, Auditorium and other facilities have been created in the short span of time. The University has completed about 28 minor and major contraction and renovation projects in the record period of one year. As many as 25 major construction and renovation projects amounting to over Rs. 70 crore are under progress in the University. The State Government has also allotted land to the University on Faridabad-Gurugram Road for its additional campus.
Since upgradation as University, this institution had only limited sanction aided posts. Due to efforts made by the Vice Chancellor, the State Government has approved about 140 teaching and non teaching posts.
