1503 cases settled in National Lok Adalat held in Chandigarh
A total of 1503 cases were disposed off by the benches of serving Judicial Officers constituted in New District Courts Complex, Sector 43, Chandigarh in the National Lok Adalat held here on Saturday.
The cases include 38 Criminal Compoundable cases involving an amount of Rs.42,100/-, 570 cases under Section 138 of N.I.Act involving an amount of Rs.2,51,34,415/-, 7 Motor Accident Claim cases involving an amount of Rs.33,89,000/-, 11 cases of labour disputes involving a settlement amount of Rs.63,572/- 04 Matrimonial/Family Disputes, 17 Civil Suits and Rent Cases involving an amount of Rs.73,32,900/-, 35 Executions involving an amount of Rs.2,01,17,623/-, 1 Criminal Revision, 03 Criminal Misc., 27 Civil Misc. involving an amount of Rs.5,46,00,911/-, 75 Arbitration cases, 05 Civil/Rent Appeals, 12 Untrace, 1 Criminal Appeal, 1 case of Guardian & Succession Act Cases, 13 cases of 125 Cr.P.C., 11 cases of D.V. Act were disposed of, 66 cases relating to Registrar of Companies Act and Shop Act Cases with fine of Rs.4,88,500/-, 606 Traffic Challans were disposed of by imposing a fine of Rs.2,43,600/- and 95 cases involving an amount of Rs.27,51,845/- were disposed of by Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Services). In addition to this 48 pre-litigative cases involving an amount of Rs.49,17,000/- were also settled.

For this purpose, 12 Benches headed by the serving Judicial Officers were constituted in the District Courts, Sector-43, Chandigarh. Criminal Compoundable cases, cases under Section 138 of N.I.Act, Bank Recovery cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour Disputes, Arbitration matters, other Civil Cases, Municipal Matters and Traffic Challans were taken up and disposed off with the consent of the parties. Mr .Balbir Singh, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh and Mr.Amarinder Sharma, Secretary, DLSA, Chandigarh also visited the benches of District Courts Complex, Chandigarh and pursued the cases for amicable settlement.
In Chandigarh it was held under the able guidance of Mr. Justice Sh. Krishna Murari, Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Patron-in-Chief, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh, Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh and Mr. Justice A.B. Chaudhari, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Administrative Judge, Chandigarh Sessions Division, National Lok Adalat was organized in the District Court, Sector 43, Chandigarh.
