In recent snatching cases by Activa/Aviator born rider reported in area of Police Station South and Central Division of Chandigarh, Senior officers had issued direction with special instruction to officials of Police Stations to capture the culprit. Working on the directions of senior officers, a team of PS-39 achieved success by arresting a person involved in snatching on white Activa/Aviator Scooter.
On dated 26/08/2018 a special team led by ASI Karam Singh of PS- 39 under the supervision of SHO/PS-39, Chandigarh, received a secret information and on the basis of this information police laid a Naka near Beat Box, Sector 37, Chandigarh, and arrested one person Kavi Visht S/o Kundan Singh Visht R/o # 315, Village Kansal Mohali, Punjab age- 26 yrs along with white Aviator Scooter no. CH01-BF-9979 and recovered one mobile phone make OPPO alongwith documents of complainant in Snatching case FIR no. 342/2018 u/s 356/379 IPC registered in PS-39 on dated 25th August 2018. During the further investigation the remaining case property has also been recovered from the possession of accused person Kavi Visht.
During interrogation accused confessed 3 more snatchings and theft case of motorcycle which have been solved and given as under:-
- FIR No. 342/2018 dt. 25/08/2018 U/S 379, 356 IPC, PS 39, Chandigarh: – Case property recovered = Purse containing cash 10000/ and mobile phone make oppo.
- FIR No. 339/2018 dt. U/S 379 IPC, PS 39, Chandigarh:
– Case property recovered = Motorcycle
- Case FIR No. 279 dt 24.08.18 U/S 356, 379 IPC, PS 17, Chandigarh: – – Case property recovered = Purse containing Rs 6000/- and Keys.
- Case FIR No. 202 dt 21.06.18 U/S 356, 379 IPC, PS 17:
– Case property recovered = Purse containing cash Rs 30000/, gold earing and i-phone.
- Case FIR No. 225 dt 29/07/2018 u/s 356/379 IPC, PS-11:
– Case property recovered =Purse containing cash and mobile phone.
Modus Operandi: – Accused Kavi Visht has targeted ladies carrying purse near the market area, school area and on V roads. For committing snatching he used his own Aviator Bike with helmet on. He used to commit snatchings alone. He committed snatchings for money to buy drugs.
Profile of Accused : – Accused Kavi Visht S/o S/o Kundan Singh Visht R/o # 315, Village Kansal Mohali, Punjab, age- 26 yrs. Basically he hails from Uttrakhand. He has done graduation from Uttrakhand. He was working as Security Guard in Sector- 46, Chandigarh. Earlier he was also arrested by Chandigarh police in the cases of NDPS and theft. He is drug addict. He was bailed out in a case of NDPS act in the month of June 2018.
The accused is being produced in the court today for obtaining his police remand to know the source regarding other crime and to ascertain his involvement in more cases. From his sustain interrogation, more disclosure regarding his involvement in snatching cases is expected.
