9th Edition of Amateur Golfers Society Golf Tournament Held
Amrinder Singh, with an impressive score of 78 in the 10–15 handicap category, and Dr. R.K. Talwar, with a score of 76 in the 16 & Above handicap category, emerged as champions at the 9th Edition of the Amateur Golfers Society Golf Tournament, held at the lush green Panchkula Golf Club. The Chief Guest was Rakesh Goyal, Chairman,RERA, Punjab.

The event was organised by the Amateur Golfers Society (AGS) — a non-governmental organization committed to promoting golf in the region. The tournament brought together 72 passionate golfers, competing across two handicap categories: 10–15  and 16 & above.

In the 10–15 handicap category, Brig. Manoj Rajp secured the runner-up spot with a score of 80, followed by Parveen Virdi as the second runner-up with a score of 86.

In the 16 & Above handicap category, Col. N.K. Mehta claimed the runner-up position with a score of 77, while A.K. Jindal completed the podium as second runner-up with a score of 78.

The tournament also featured individual skill challenges. Amrinder Singh won the Longest Drive with an impressive 270-yard shot. S.S. Prasad, IAS(Retd.), claimed the Straightest Drive title with a shot measuring 1 foot, and Col. N.K. Mehta secured the Highest Birdies title by carding six birdies during his round.  A birdie in golf means scoring one stroke under par on a hole.

Commending the initiative, Chief Guest Rakesh Goyal, Chairman of RERA Punjab, said, “I commend the organisers for hosting such a fantastic tournament and creating a valuable platform for both young and seasoned golfers. Organising more such events in the region will help discover hidden talent and further promote the golfing culture.”

Advocate Suresh K. Gupta, Founder Trustee of AGS, added: “It was heartening to see the enthusiasm of golfers participating in large numbers against a picturesque backdrop on this beautiful sunny Sunday morning. AGS has been providing wonderful opportunities to talented individuals through tournaments. We are also coming up with a  State-of-The-Art Golf Range to train upcoming golfers . The range will also have residential facilities.”
