7th Gurmat Sangeet Baithak&10th All India Shabad Gayan competition organised by Pracheen Kala Kendra:Pracheen Kala Kendra and Gurmat Sangeet Society Chandigarh organized Ragmai Kirtan Darbar as the 7th Gurmat Sangeet society and successfully organized the 10th All India Shabad singing competition.
Pracheen kala Kendra organized its 7th Gurmat Sangeet baithak with ragmai Kirtan Darbar at Guru Teg Bahadur Gurudwara , sector-34, Chandigarh here today. Programe was also telecast live on social media platforms of Kendra YouTube from the stage. The programe featured eminent Kirtankars from various cities of Punjab . They presented melodic Shabad Kirtan according to the ancient maryada of Gurmat Sangeet. The program was conducted by Mr. Malkit Singh Jandiala , Head of the Department of Gurmat Sangeet , Pracheen Kala Kendra. Secretary of the Kendra Sh. Sajal Koser along with Mr. Ashutosh Mahajan, Honorary Director, Project, Planning and Development were also present on this occasion. Sh. Sajal Koser announced on this occasion that free Gurmat Sangeet education would be provided to all the students who are interested in Gurmat Sangeet.
The program was commenced with shabad by Kamaljit Kaur, a kirtankar from Ropar, in which she performed the words ‘Prabh Mera Antarjami Jaan’ in Raag Kalyan. Afterwards she entertained the sangat by presenting the words in Raga Dhanashree. Then Bhai Rajveer Singh presented beautiful shabad ‘Sobha mere lalan ki’.
After this Satwinder Singh of Hoshiarpur recited the shabad ‘Re Man Ram Siyon Kar Preet’ in Raga Soratha and also presented compositions in Raga Kanhara. Later, Bhai Bhagta Singh, from Amritsar performed traditional Raga kirtan with shabad “Mera man sadh jan mil hariya” in raga kanhara. After this Dr. Gurnam Singh from Patiala enchanted the audience by singing Puratan Jatha After this Amritpal Singh Ji from Delhi enchanted the sangat with shabad ‘Rang Rata Mera Sahib’ in Raag Sree. He then presented shabad in Raag Nat Narayan and many ancient Gurmat Bandishes. Afterwards Shri Malkit Singh Jandiala presented some ancient Gurmat kirtan in Raag Shri and Kedar.
At the end of the program Bhai Davinder Singh Bodal, a famous kirtankar from Jalandhar, entertained the sangat by reciting ‘Kaam Krodh Nagar Bho Bhariya’ in Raag Gauri Purvi as well as ‘Peer Dekhan Da Aas’ in the ancient tradition of Gurmat Sangeet . All the Artists were honored in the end of the program.
On the second day 10th All India Shabad singing competition was organized by Pracheen Kala Kendra, in which Paramdeep Singh, Hoshiarpur, Amanjot Singh Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 38, Chandigarh stood second and Vaibhav Sharma, Shivalik Public School, Mohali stood third.
Apart from this, consolation prizes were given to Harman Kaur and Harsharan Singh, District Udhampur, J&K, Evelyn Kaur Sidhu, Tender Heart School, Chandigarh, Jafmeet Singh, Zirakpur.
In Senior Singles, Amritpal Kaur, Khalsa College, Amritsar secured the first position, Sagar, Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 38 West stood second, and Amritpal Singh Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Sector 26, Chandigarh secured the third position. Apart from this, consolation prizes were given to Ramandeep Singh, Government Senior Secondary School, Sector-35, Chandigarh and JV Singh, Chandigarh.
In the junior group competition, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 38 (West) got first, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16 (West) got second and Senior Secondary School, Sector 23 got the consolation prize. In the senior group competition, Khalsa College Amritsar secured first position, TPD Malwa College, Bathinda secured second position and Anjali, Panjab University Chandigarh secured third position.

Apart from this, some special awards were also given to the children who participated from abroad, including Gurleen Sabharwal from Florida USA, Eknoor Kaur from Dublin and Janhvi Subramaniam from Florida.

In the excellence category Paramdev, Hoshiarpur were awarded gold, Harman Kaur Harshran Singh, Jammu and Kashmir were awarded silver and Amritpal Kaur, Amritsar was awarded silver. Assistant Prof. Vanitha, Punjabi University, Mrs. Tripat Kaur, Chandigarh and Dr. Sonia Sharma from Mohali participated as judges.
