A glittering lineup of authors at Literati announced,7th Edition of Chandigarh Lit Fest, Literati, to open on 23rd November
One of region’s premier celebration of writers, readers and the written world, Literati 2019, shall be opening on Saturday 23rd November at its regular prestine lawns of the lake club on the banks of Sukhna Lake.
The two days of Literati organized by Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS), celebrates keynotes, panels, interviews, performances, participatory activities, at the Lake Club, and shall open with the inaugural keynote by renowned economist and author, PadamshreeS Bibek Debroy, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council.
The deliberations shall satiate every section including children for whom special writing workshops with established authors have been planned, besides bollywood, poetry, mythology with sprinkle of English, Hindi, Panjabi and Urdu.
Well known London-based English poet, Sudeep Sen, whose works have been translated in many languages around the world, shall share the panel with Dr Sumita Misra on “That Elusie Poetic Flavour”.
You could get to meet an engineer, innovator and educator who inspired Aamir Khan’s character in 3 Idiots, Sonam Wangchuk would be another highlight at Literati on the first day afternoon.
Mr Rajshekhar Vundru IAS will speak about his book on Dr BR Ambedkar.
Panjabi session on revival of the legendary Panjabi movie, Chann Pardesi, shall feature Raj Babbar, Subhash Sehgal, JS Cheema, Manmohan Singh, Chitratha Singh.
Vineet Bajpai and Deep Haldar would touch upon history and mythology session with another popular writer Ravinder Singh and Sunanda Mehta, author of ‘The Mystery of Sunanda Pushakar’s Life and Death’ shall hold the stage on the second day.
Pre- and Post 370 would be another session of current interest with writers like Sidhartha Gigoo, Mehak Gupta Grover and Ramesh Vinayak would engage in literary perspective.
Nupur Sandhu, Mukul Kumar, Ruby Gupta and Simran Singh would feature on the ‘Passion through the Ages’ session.
Aabid Surti, another legendary writer of children literature, would conduct children’s workshop on second day morning and would also be a part of the session “Keep that Innocence” along with Katie Bagli and Dr Samir Parikh.
Simran Puri, Amitoj Mann, Jaspal Singh, Dr Dalvir Singh Pannu, Vivek Atray, Lily Swarn, VK Kapur, Gurdip Hari, Damayanti Biswas, Kanchana Banerjee, Ankur Bisen and Mihir Dalal are some of the other celebrated authors who would be interacting with the city’s discerning audience.
The first day evening highlight shall be ‘Ghazal Ke Saaz Uthao’ session with masters of poetry like Gyan Prakash, Mamta Kiran, Rajinder Toki, Nafas, Trilochan, Ajit Langen with Madhav Kaushik as the moderator.
On this occasion several authors shall unveil their writings at the book launches on both the days including that of Lippi Parida, Sanjay and Priya Tandon, Supreet Dhiman, and Praveen Kaushik.
CLS Chairperson Dr Sumita Misra says, Literati has been growing in scale and substance every year with our endeavour to provide literature lovers of the region with the best author sessions and interactions.

Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) founded in 2013 had been established in the region to encourage people to share their stories and publish through workshops, book launches, interactions with authors, holding writing competitions, besides organizing its mega literary event, Literati, every year.
