On 12.06.17 Women & Child Support Unit of Chandigarh Police launched ‘SWAYAM’ (self defence training Programme) at Gymnasium Hall, Panjab University, Sec-14, Chandigarh as this scheme is a brain-child of W/DGP Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra IPS, DGP, UT, Chandigarh. Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab-cum- Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest and Hon’ble M.P. Smt. Kirron Kher was the Guest of Honor to grace the occasion in the presence of other dignitaries i.e.
Vice Chancellor of Panjab University and Advisor to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra IPS, DGP, UT, Chandigarh delivered welcome address to the Hon’ble guests as well as audience. On the launch of “Swayam” self defence training programme, many events had been arranged to display, in which about 300 children from different schools had participated & presented the Mass Demonstration who had been imparting self defence training at their respective schools by the staff of Women & Child Support Unit. A Play on ‘Beti Padhao Beti Bachaoo’ was also played by Naina Group of Delhi. The programme was lauded by Dignitaries, Senior Officers as well as audience.
Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab-cum- Administrator, UT, Chandigarh also flagged off 35 New Activa Bikes attached with Chandigarh Police which are for the purpose of strengthening the patrolling in UT area by the women cops. The vehicles are also carrying the information of help lines i.e. Child & Women Help lines.
