As many as 150 people attended a Max Elite Institute of Orthopedics, Mohali free orthopedics health check-up camp at Nayyar Hospital here today.
A team of orthopedic surgeons headed by Dr. Manuj Wadhwa, director & head -Max Elite Institute of Orthopedics and Joint Replacement including Dr. Dhruv Vasisht and Dr Ashok Sharma both orthopedic surgeons and Dr Navjot Singh, senior physiotherapist addressed the healthcare needs of people in camp.
Expert orthopedic consultations and checkups including diagnostic services like bone mass densitometry tests and consultation along with knee, hip replacements and implants counselling were provided free of cost during camp.
Meanwhile Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali has tied up with the Nayyar Hospital to extend its healthcare services at Amritsar. Dr. Manuj Wadhwa will be consulting patients suffering from hip and knee problems at Nayyar Hospital tomorrow.
Talking about the way arthritis is crippling the young nowadays , Dr Wadhwa said that contrary to the misconception that arthritis only affects elderly this disorder is increasingly found in the younger population. Earlier, patients around 65-yr and above suffered from arthritis and underwent surgeries. But now the younger ones in age group of 40-45 years, who are in the prime of their youth are presenting themselves with acute arthritis. Higher levels of stress coupled with modern day lifestyles are increasing incidence of arthritis.”
